Lifelong area resident Mike Helvey, Sheridan, has been appointed to the vacant Sheridan County seat on the Powder River Energy Board of Directors. He has lived in northern Wyoming and southern Montana and has ranching interests in both states.
“I have always been interested in PRECorp and where our power comes from, why it costs what it does, and how it is distributed,” Helvey said.
He has college degrees in Business from Sheridan College and Montana State University – Billings. He is the president of the Interstate Ditch Company.
Three candidates were interviewed in December. Helvey was selected and seated at the January PRECorp Board meeting. Helvey will fill out the term remaining when Wade Larsen resigned in September 2017. The term expires in August 2020.
