What is Basin Electric?
Basin Electric is a power generator. It is also a co-op whose members are composed of 126 rural electric member cooperative systems that in turn serve approximately 1.8 million consumers in the nine states of North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, Minnesota, Nebraska, Iowa, Colorado and New Mexico. Just like you are a member of Power River Energy, PRECorp is a member of Basin Electric. This is why your electrical rates are so low and so stable compared to most of the rest of the United States. Basin Electric operates electricity-generating power plants with a total capacity of 3,518 megawatts. They are among the cleanest coal-burning plants in the nation.
